Your choice of siding material depends on your budget, and what kind of overall style your home currently has - a vinyl siding or a steel siding in a Victorian home would look out of place. Look at this way - styling aside, stone and wood are high cost alternatives, but are worth the money if you can afford it. Just looking for an estimate on siding, thanks

I wondered if it was possible to replace wooden shakes with vinyl siding only on the front of my house. It is a one story ranch - about 60 feet wide (this includes a garage). I'd like a ballpark estimate for materials and installation - and whether or not its possible to cap the sides even if one of the sides on each corner being capped would be wooden shakes.
